Hi All: Know it's been a while since I posted a blog. We have been pretty busy since 10 Sept.

Had a nice visit with Bob and Dorene Boardman, and left there in North Carolina and went to Tom and Judy's in Delaware. Spent 5 nights there and had a super time visiting there. Had super food and did find a Booze store and we are now solvent in Liquour with no sales tax.. hee hee..

I helped Tom install a Electric Switch for his home when the electric is interupted for some reason, such as hurricans etc... He had a generator he uses but had to disconnect the main circuit breaker etc if he loses electricity. With this system he just has to flick a few switches on the new box and hook up the generator and he's all set. Pretty neat system, and we had little trouble hooking it up to the main circuit breaker panel. He says he needs to go out and hit an electric pole to check it out. Would be better just to turn the main circuit breaker off and then check things out. hee hee.

We are now in a campground in Northern North Carolina. We got out of Delaware at 0800 this morning, Hoping that the traffic around Washington, DC would be gone by the time we got there at about 1000. Well, it worked. Traffic was not bad, and we made good time to this campground, and have all things hooked up for the night. Plan to leave early in the morning for one more stop
on the way home around Savannah, Ga I think, so we will get home some time Saturday. Will be good to get home, but both Amy and I would keep going had we scheduled more on this trip. The New motor home is super, and is so comfortable to travel in and also stay in. Glad we bought it....

Hi All: Know it's been a few days since I did a Blog. I did one a while back, had a bunch of photo's all set up and it was the biggest Blog I've done. Well, I hit some key on this dumb lap top and lost the whole blog. Been upset about ever since.

We are in Huntsville, AL now. Are at the RV campground at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. The town is so much bigger than it was when we were here in 1979. Cannot find my way around without the GPS.

Have had a great dinner and evening with Jim and Sharon Nelson who lives here. Was a super evening with them. Then last night we had another good evening with Bob and Seal Gherdes, with the Nelson's there also. Was another grand evening. Many "Sea Stories" from Bob of course. And another wonderful dinner. Will not fit in my clothes if we stay here much longer..

We have another date with Paul and Pat Gulick tonight. Have not seen them in years as well. Meeting them at a restaurant on the othere side of the mountain we have to go over, then a visit to where they live.

Plan to get together with Jim and Sharon tomorrow for lunch before we get on the road Monday for Ashville, NC for one night, then on to Clayton, NC for a couple days visiting Bob and Dorene Boardman.

Photo's above are of our campsite here in Huntsville; Me standing next to the bottome of the Saturn V nozzles. It sure is a big missile. The biggest ever. Another shot of that missile standing up outside the museum we toured here.

Having a good time here. Did check out the base. Could not find my old office building out there. Did find the PX and Commissary though. Didn't spend much in there. Prices were much higher than Publix at home....

Amy and I are still talking to each other, so all must be going OK. Will try to keep the Blog up to date better from now on..

Hi All: Well, the trip to the Grand Ole Opry is over. Must say that the show was not as good as the worst one in Branson. Our seats were not real good. 14 rows back, and off in left field. To far to get good photo's of the performers. Amy did get some good shots from the big TV in the back ground on the stage.

We found a Kroger's grocery store yesterday, then thought we'd look up where the Macaroni Grill was. Found it in the "Mills" area next to the river. Well all the stores and restaurants were fenced in and shut down from the flood last year. They said the water even got in to the Grand Ole Opry and covered the stage with 4 feet of water. They did a good job of getting the Opry up and going, but sure picked awful seats. They were just padded (A Little) Church Pews and you crammed everyone in them on each section. Very uncomfortable. And if you got a few of the extra weight folks we see around here they would take up two seats, so you would have no where to sit....May never go back there again. Will go to Branson.

We do have one more show to go to tonight. It's a dinner show that is next to the campground here. We have been there a few times, I think the first time was with Jay and Lou when we travelled together??? Always has been a good show, and the food is pretty good also. But, it is now raining at 1300 and we are to be there about 1500. So may have to drive the short distance so we will be in the rain less that way??? Guess the storm in the Gulf is finally getting some rain up here??? Started last night just after we got home from the Opry..

The photo's above are of Minnie Pearl of course. (Not the real one, She's gone), Then a bad shot of the "White's", who did a good job... Jeanne Seely in the black outfit, and Connie Smith in the white outfit. Jim Ed Brown in the red outfit, sang "Pop a Top Again" his big hit. Of course Little Jimmy Dickens" He was real good for a man of 90 years old... I backed him in Okinawa while I was a member of a band in 1964 on our way to Viet Nam. Then the last performer was Billy Dean. He sang his hit song "Billy the Kid", Then said he has a suprise.. Introduced his 16 year old daughter Hannah Dean to sing a song first time on the Opry. She was super. The best singer of the night. I bet we can expect to hear from her in the years to come. Very moving. She sang Hank Williams song "I'm so lonesome I could Cry". Billy Dean did the back up singing with her. Very good...

It was an OK showing of the Opry. Like I said though, it was not as good as the Worst show we saw in Branson. It was probably our last Opry show we will be spending big money to see. Another thing that botherd me was having to sit and listen to the commmercials during the show. Hate to pay good money to listen to that...????

Hi All: We made it to Nashville. Got off a little earlier than we wanted, and got here about Noon. No problem in checking in. Got our tickets to the Grand Ole Opry for tomorrow night. The campground is pretty full. We got the last 50 amp site they had. They only have 15 of those sites of the 500 they have here. Amy is happy about that, as the washer/dryer had been going since we got hooked to the electric pole.

Was considering going out for dinner, but decided to stay in and cook here. Will go out for "Lupper" tomorrow, early afternoon so we won't need to eat after the Grand Ole Opry. Doesn't look like we have a great showing for Entertainers that night. List shows: Jim Ed Brown; Connie Smith, Michael Cleveleand & Flamekeeper ?; Little Jimmy Dickens; Jesse McRenolds; Elizabeth Cook; Jeannie Seely, Stu Phillips, Wynn Varble; Opray Square Dancers, Bill Anderson, The Whites, and Billy Dean. I'm sure it will still be a good show.... Will be picked up here at the campground and delivered to the Grand Ole Opery, and brought back home..

Plan to go to the Country Hall Of Fame Monday. That will be a full day. Not shure what beyond that. Have to find a ABC store and a grocery store some time soon also.

Weather here is real hot. It was 114 a while ago on the outside thermometer. It was in the sun though.. Nice and cool in here though. Pharoah seems to be very happy. Doing his exercises as usual. (Sleeping) In the middle of the floor in everyone's way...

We will be here 5 nights, and then off to Huntsvile, AL for a visit with some USMC friends..

Hi All: We had a nice visit to Loretta Lynn's campground. It was a great campground. Had bad cell phone service, and slow WiFi Service due to the fact we use Verizon for our WiFi. Still good place to relax and enjoy the Squirrels and trees...

We got on the road to the Thousand Trails campground here at Natchez Trace, TN. Took us about 3 hours to get here. No Interstate, but up and down Tennessee roads. Campground has 800 acres, and a lot of sites. However, there are a lot of folks here, and some of them look like they live here. Lots of trees, so we had to find a site that had full hookups and a clear shot to the satellite for Directv. Found one and are all set up and I'm having a Heineken and watching the world go by....We'll be here two nights, and there is nothing for us to do here but relax again. No Walmart, No grocery stores, No Nothing....Only 30 amp service here also, so hope it don't get to hot that the AC keeps us cool with only one compressor????

Photo's were taken at Loretta Lynn's tour. Took a photo of the front gate of the house they USED to live in. it's the big white house with the pillers etc. No one lives there now. We did tour inside it and it is beautiful. She lived there with their children and her husband till the kids were gone, and the husband passed away. She now lives in a smaller house out behind the big house. Didn't see her out and about. She just had a new knee replacement, so she may not be running around outside yet. There is a Grist Mill there. Hurrican Mills. That's the name of the area there. The mill is still there, but does now grind grain any more. Picture of it above, with a little plaque about it. Someone took the photo of Amy and I in front of the mansion. Rare to see a photo of us both in the same frame. hee hee.

We will be in Nashville next stop. It's only about 100 miles from here. Leave Friday morning and will be in Nashville 5 nights. Have tickets already for the Grand Ole' Opry on Saturday. I'm sure Amy has a busy 5 days for us there.....

Hi All: We made it to Loretta Lynn's campground in good shape. The motorhome ran like a clock. I guess it's all fixed up finally.

The Campground is sure in the woods. The picture of Amy is our front yard. The campground is inl the middle of a large tree forest. Large Oak trees, and lots of "Killer Squirrels".. There are hardly anyone in the campground now. Our closest neighbor is from Brooksville, FL About 16 miles down the road from our house. There is only about two spots in the campground that you can use the satellite dish. He is in one, and we are next to him using the other site. The signal isn't very strong, and I had to move the rig back and forth to finally get a signal that would get most of the stations. WE are OK. Can get FOX news pretty good. hee hee. That makes Amy happy???? NOT....

We drove down the road a few miles to Waverly, TN and found a restaurant called "DAVID'S PLACE" We had breakfast there and it was very good.. Had to be with a name like that. HUH Brenda????

The other photo is our campsite in the woods...

Loretta's tour place is about 2 miles from the campground. We plan to go there tomorrow and probably take a tour of her replica home etc, and her museum etc...

Went to Walmart this morning. Was good to see a lot of white folks in there this time. Seems like we stop for a half gallon milk, and spend over $100 each time. Don't know how that happens?

We leave here Wednesday for a Thousand Trails campground about 100 miles from here. Will stay there two nights. Just going there because it's a Thousand Trails campground and we're trying to get our money's worth by using them as often as we can...

Amy is busy cleaning etc today. I'ts just nice being at this campground. It was 60 degrees here this morning. Real nice place...

Hi All:

We took our tour thru Graceland today. Glad it was not one thing on my "Bucket list" Kinda boreing. Photo above is the "Mansion" Don't know why they call it that. It's an old house with real small rooms. Has been fixed up real nice though. We walked thru it with head phones on telling us what we see as we go along on the tour.

The photo is of "Your Know Who?" It's a painting. Pretty well done, shows him as a young man... Then we went thru his collecton of cars. Pretty impressive for sure. Here's his pink cadillac.. And then you have his grave site, so I guess he's really dead. Guess you were right Bob. You told be he was gone???? He'd be an old man these days if he had lived. Born in 1935. Two years older than me... OUCH...

We walked almost two miles on the tour today. Was good to get some exercise. After lunch in the motor home we went to the Post office, then Walmart. We have decided that Graceland is in the African American part of town. We were the only white folks in Walmart. Tom would love this part of the city..

Not going to do to much tomorrow. I have a small leak around the vent in the living room, so have to re-caulk around it, and need to clean the windows. They won't let me wash the rig in the park. Sure needs it....

Will be leaving day after tomorrow to Loretta Lynn's park about 150 miles from here. Will be good to see how the motor home runs with all the spark plugs connected...hee hee.

Hi All:

We got up this morning and I emailed the Chevy dealer here in Memphis about an appointment to check out my engine. Got one at 0900 and we closed up the Motor Home and hit the road. Chevy dealer was about 20 minutes away. Got there in good time and they put their little computer on the rig and found that I had an "Air Flow" problem. Said it was probably the sensor in the air line. The Check Engine light had gone out from yesterday. He said it would take a couple days to get a sensor, but that I might not have that problem again. I then asked about the clicking sound I also heard that sounded like a Valve Lifter. Started the engine and he said, Yea, does sound like a lifter. He moved to the drivers side of the vehicle and looked under the wheel well and said. Well, look at that". There was one of the spark plug wires I paid $400 for installation hanging down on the side of the motor. Not hooked to the spark plug, and the clicking was the spark jumping to the side of the motor. He crawled under there and plugged it on to the plug and all was back to normal again. He said that with that cylinder not fireing may have been the cause for the engine check light to come on. And the best thing about that visit was they wouldn't take any $$$ for fixing it. Said it's the least they can do for someone travelling thru town... I did force enough on them to pay for their lunch though. Rig runs real good now. Plan to send a "Nasty Gram" back to the place that put my plug wires on....

We have not done anything all day. Seems we both were just to tired to go out. Will go to Graceland tomorrow. We can walk there. We are camped behing the Graceland Hotel, and everything about Graceland is in walking distance of the campground. We will have two days to see what we want to see here, then back on the road again to Loretta Lynn's place down the road to another campground...

Hi All:

We got out of Branson about 0900 and hit the mountains of the Ozarks, headed to Memphis, TN. Didn't get very far till I found out that the work I had done on the engine was a waste of $400. Just didn't run right at all?? However, the missing at high RPM was gone, but missing at low RPM was a new problem. Kept going to Memphis. Stopped a little way from our destination for gas and the "Check Engine" light came on. Filled up the tank and headed to our campground in Memphis. We're at Graceland RV Park and campground. A real nice campground. Got all set up and checked the website for a Workhorse service place and found one as the Chevy dealer not far from the campground. Had to leave a message to the service manager as things were closed for the day I guess. Waiting on a call from him now. Probably won't hear from him before morning?? We plan to be here 4 nights, so hope he can figure out my problem before that time is gone..

Photo above is a comedy act of Johnnie Cash and June Carter singing "Jackson" Real funny skit.. It was Pierce Arrow show. 4 guys who sing all kinds of songs. A very good show. We think it was the third best show we saw. Jim Stafford being #1, The Presley's #2, and Pierce Arrow being #3. The other two were good also, but just not as good...

The other photo is of "Pierce Arrow". Good singers, both as singles, and as a group. Had a great time there. Looking forward to another visit some day.

Next photo is the Mississippi River we are crossing going in to Memphis...

Wish us luck on finding out what is wrong with our engine now?? Everything I fixed is working just great. Only thing I had to pay someone else to do is not doing so well..???

Hi All: Finally got to the Blog. Have been pretty busy the last couple days, going to shows and working on fixing the Motor Home etc. Got the engine fixed, Turned out to be the Spark Plug Wires. Have new wires now, but have not had any big hills to check out the engine. Also got the repair parts for the step and all is well in the step now also. BUT, when I parked the rig back at the park I noticed a hydraulic leak around the system for the jacks and slide outs. Found the problem this morning and put a new O ring in where there was a bad one. This is the third O ring I have had to do on this rig since I bought it. Not the same place, as there are 4 O rings that I have to watch...

We have our last show today at 3 PM. It's Pierce Arrow. Supposed to be comedy. Never heard of them before. We saw Jim Stafford last night. My sides are still sore from laughing at this guy. He has to be the funniest guy on the stage. If he is ever in your area be sure to go see him...Great Show.

The top left photo is the dinning room at the College of the Ozarks, Called "Hard Work U" All the students have to work at least 15 hours a week, and that gives them a free ride at the college. If they work harder, the school pays for books etc. If you don't work, you don't go to school there...Great dinner, all attended to by students. All the food etc is grown by the students. Great Deal.

Photo on right is me waiting on Jim Stafford to sign a CD for Amy I bought for her. Should have stood beside him so Amy could have gotten a better photo. Oh Well....

The guy in the red coat is a very young Elvis as seen at the show of Legends. Also a photo of the George Strait also another shot of Jim Stafford, and the "Blues Brothers..

Then a photo of the best person in Branson..... My Sweety!!!! Trying to steal the show. She always steals the show for me...

We leave in the morning for Memphis to visit "Graceland" Hope the motor does us well getting there. Wish us luck...

Hi All:

Welcome to the Blog Jan. Saw your comment. Were you talking about the CAT "Fat Cat? or ME the Fat Cat? hee hee..

The photo's of the Presley show are here for ya this time. The show was a super show, Great music, and broken up with very funny folks acting up. Recommend this show to anyone. The songs they did were mostly songs that I recall doing way back when, to include "Six Days On The Road" Harry Tippins and I used to do in the 60's Show made me miss playing music again.

Also a shot of a little monkey climbing one of the buildings here in Branson....

Another shot of our rig in it's spot here at the Stagecoach RV park.

We are scheduled to go to the Haygood's show tonight. Hope it's as good as the Presley's was.

Amy is off shopping today. I am exercising with Pharaoh here at the Motor Home. hee hee.

Hi All: A day late on Blog Posts:

We are in Branson, MO now at the Stagecoach RV Park. Have a great site. All concrete with trees, and WiFi, and Cable TV. The restaurant we liked the last time we were here is now a Mexican Restaurant. Went there for dinner yesterday and it wasn't bad. But I liked the one they had last time we were here. They had a great Breakfast Buffet. Here they have Mexian breakfasts??? We went to a different place for breakfast this morning...

While at the place for breakfast we were walking out and this cute little gal asked if we wanted to see some shows?? I usually just say no, but Amy went over and talked to her. Turned out she asked us how many shows we wanted and we settled on 5 shows. She checked them and found that the shows cost over $350 for both of us to go to them. She came up with $150 for all of them, and she'd make reservations?? Only catch was we had to go sit thru a presentation for a cost share type place for a couple hours. We had nothing to do so we went to the presentation, and got out of there without buying anything, and still got the tickets for our shows. First one is the Presely's tonight at 8PM, Not sure who they are, but folks say it is a good show. Another is the "Haggard's" Not sure who they are either?, A Jim Stafford show. We have seen him a couple times. He's got a great show, and I don't recall who else yet. Will try to get some photo's of the shows for the blog.

Did get the parts for the step I need. Called a place in Iowa next door to the place that makes our motor Home and they had something I can repair the step with. Could not get the gears I needed, but could send me the whole Motor Base. New motor, and gears. That will work...Will arrive here by UPS on Monday.

Also, Monday morning I have an appointment at a Motor Coach place that can figure out what is wrong with my motor missing while crawling up these mountains.. Sure hope they can figure that problem out. I fear it is my fuel pump that is inside my 75 gallon gas tank. One that I cannot change without dropping the fuel tank, which I'm sure the campgrounds will frown on me doing while camped???

Other than that, all is great. The weather is a little warm, but not bad. Inside the motor home is super.

Also found a motor home on the site across the road from us that is our exact match. Have never seen another one like ours till now. They are from California. His is a little cleaner than ours. He didn't have to travel thru the rain to get here of course. Have not talked to them yet..

Know Amy has taken some photo's, but am running out of time to get ready for the show tonight.

Hi All: We made it to Terre Haute, IN at about 1630. Traveling on I-70 is the toughest road we have ever been on. Including the Alaska Highway in Canada and Alaska. It the worst ever. rough, and more trucks than we have ever seen on a highway. Tought trip.

Was good to get to the KOA campground and get set up. Damn step took a dump again. Was afraid it might not last the trip. Guess the gear switch didn't work that well. Now Amy has to come out the drivers door when we stop along the way. There is a Camping World in Nashville. Hope I can get some parts there for it...

Photo's above: Ice Cream truck caught fire on I-70 just ahead of us along the way. He was able to pull off the road at a exit. Don't know how he did as we kept going. He was running around the truck when we passed him.. Amy found some Deer in the yard of the last campground. Neat yard things. KOA campground here had a couple donkeys Amy found to be cute?? AND Pharaoh attacking the had that feeds him.

KOA campground here is pretty nice. Also had a resturant, so Amy didn't have to cook dinner. Dinner was fair. Not near as good as something she could have thrown together, but she didn't have to work. It was a tough day. Over 300 miles of extra rough road, and one mistake at a exit that our GPS had to work to get us back on the road. But she did good...

Have about 200 miles tomorrow for one more stop before we get to Branson. I thought we had planned to stay in Branson 4 nights, but Amy checked the trip ticket and found that we have reservations for 6 nights there. Will be able to find something to do that long I am sure.

Won't have any trouble falling asleep tonight.

Hi All: Well we got out of New Castle at about 0900 today Top photo is the gate we go thru to get out of the Rose Point Campground. It was looking like rain, and it did show up. Rained on us off and on all day.

Next photo is crossing the "Ohio River" heading West toward Branson, MO. Still raining off and on. Next phot is the rig sitting at a rest stop on highway 70.

We finally made it to "Wolfies" campground in Zanesville, OH at about 1300. Nice campground. Have been here a couple times before. They have lots of Longaberger Baskets on sale in the store there. Might add, they have several less now than they did when we got here. I also have several $$$ less for them?????

Has been raining good today. Now at about 1700 the blue sky is starting to show up. Good thing. We plan to Grill a steak, and have some corn on the cob we got in New Castle before we left.

Will be here only overnight. Going to Tere Haute, IN for another one night stay at a KOA there. Campsites are getting more $$ as we go. Tonight was $30 for full hook ups and 50 amp. The one in Indiana is $45 a night.... Its a KOA, and they are about the most expensive ones out here.

Well, that's about it for now. Will try to keep something posted each day now.

Hi All:

Well, we have had our last day here in New Castle. Amy spent the day with Aunt Beryl, and visited her Uncle Don who has the liver problem. He is to have a procedure Tuesday to get him back on the Get Well track.

I stayed at the Motor Home and checked thing out for our departure in the morning. Will be good to get on the road again. Going to Zanesville, Ohio where they make Longaberger Baskets. We've been there before, but will not be visiting the Basket place this time. However, I think the campground we go to has a bunch of baskets for sale. Hope I can get away from there without having to float a loan for baskets.

Next stop will be in Indiana, then one stop in Missouri before we get in to Branson. Will be in Branson 4 nights...

Rained real hard last night about 0430, and then rained off and on most of the day. Still looks like we could get more tonight...Makes it nice and cool though, And Muddy....

No Photo's this time.

Looks like Amy is getting her butt chewed out Huh???

Hi all: Another day gone. It was 51 degrees when we got up this morning. Another beautiful day here. Went to "Brown's" restaurant again for breakfast. Went to Aunt Beryl's for dinner again. Another great dinner BBQ ribs, french fries, corn, and fresh peaches for desert..

We have another reunion tomorrow. Last one thank goodness. Have a 1 1/2 mile trip to Ohio for this one. Another 1 1/2 hour trip back home also. Will be riding with Aunt Beryl. Will be a white knuckle ride I fear???

Got Aunt Beryl's faucets fixed in her spare bathroom today also. Found the repair parts at Lowe's the other day. Was lucky to find them..

The deer hanging in the skinning rack was found along the road on a trip the other day.. It is not a real deer of course. Just a yard ornament of course...

We will be leaving here Monday, 15 August for Branson, MO. Will be stopping three nights on the way. Will be there for 4 nights. Hope to see some good shows there again.

Not much going on to report...

Hi All: It's been a while since I posted on the Blog. We have been in New Castle, PA all this time doing the "Reunion Thing", and the Visit everyone" thing.

Have had a Shelar reunion, and a small Harrison reunion, and this Saturday we have a larger Harrison Reunion in Ohio. Good to see all the folks we have not seen in a long time. And even with two weeks here we don't have time to visit all we would like to visit. Will have to make another trip some time.

Photo of me above is at the local "Frozen Custard" place called "Fourbush" Have the best Ice Cream I've ever eaten. Sign shows some of the flavors they have. "Black Raspberry" and "Cherry Vanilla" are my favorites.

Photo of two good looking folks is of Ken and Jo Harland. Amy's cousin. Ken's Dad is the Uncle that passed away at the lovely age of 102 I think. Was a Fantastic Gentlemen...

The photo of the table Dancer is Amy's Cousin Lil. She was the highlite of the party. She is now singing a song for us all. Very Entertaining.. Thank Lil???

Other photo of me with two young folks is Pete and Edie Anthony. Amy's cousin's. Pete is a retired Air Force Gentlemen. They took us on a great day trip around the country in this area. He has a Trout fish raising place here, and raises them from finger size to nice size for fishing, then places them in the many streams in this area. Was a great day with them...

My Cousin Jan, and husband Gary are picking us up at the campground tonight and we are going somewhere for dinner. Gary is planning to retire this fall and they want to make a trip to Alaska next summer. So he may have a few questions concerning the trip up there. They have a real nice 5th wheel trailer and a great truck to pull it.. They will have a GRAND time going up the Alaska Highway thru Canada....

Got a phone number for Mary Beth and have not had a chance to call her. Plan to do that today. Don't see how we can get over to visit her this time though. Know I have some other cousins in the area, but don't know where they are....

Amy is off to an "Outlet Mall" just North of here this morning, and I am holding down the Motor Home. Weather today is fantastic. Was 60 degrees this morning, and the sky is clear and sunny. Have had some rain, but not bad.

We will be here till the 15th, then on our way to Branson, MO for a few days. Will take us three nights to get there.....

Later.
